Myrte

Myrtle is a shrub in the Myrtaceae family, native to the Mediterranean basin. Rising 1 to 3 metres, the myrtle has a bushy appearance, sometimes spread or compact depending on the season. Its trunk covers itself entirely with a smooth fibrous bark. Green more or less dark, myrtle leaves are small and lanceolate. Denses and persistent, they offer a real decorative seal to your gardens. The leaves also give off a pleasant fruity scent, slightly resinous when cut. The flowering period of this shrub extends from June to August. In the fall, white and fragrant flowers are replaced by small berries that become blue-black when they mature.
