Lapland

The saponary or Saponaria officinalis L. is a perennial rhizomatous plant of the family Caryophyllaceae. It grows in almost all of Europe and Western Asia, especially in uncultivated and fresh places. Measuring between 30 cm and 80 cm, the saponary is equipped with a glabrous stem and swollen in the nudes. It has large oval or lanceolate leaves with 3 to 5 veins. The saponary gives very fragrant white or pale pink flowers that have oboval petals crowned with linear and flat scales. It produces fruits in the shape of oblong capsules that contain dark brown reniform seeds.
