Description
If the lemonberry bears this nickname, it is because this aromatic plant is precisely provided with a flavor that recalls that of the citrus. It is the vervein of India, also called lemongrass. It is a herbaceous plant of the Poaceae family. It has a substance lemonellol, which gives him his qualities, this particular flavor. This tropical plant is widely used in food, but also as a food supplement, in many different forms. In essential oil, it will be ideal for consumption or use for other purposes.
The lemonberry stands out for its appearance. It has long erect leaves, can measure up to 2 metres high for larger subjects. The latter have a pale blue/green colour, and are relatively sharp on their edges. In particular, it is found in temperate Asian countries, such as china or Taiwan for example. It is also present on the African continent, Algeria, Egypt, Morocco, as well as in the Caribbean (Cuba, Haiti, Puerto Rico etc.). In Central and South America, it is also widely represented.
This plant does not support too cold temperatures. It may be cultivated but provided it is kept in safe condition during freezing. It should not be confused with lemon vervein for example, but also the lemon thyme, which is also called lemon.
Instructions for use: Take 2 to 3 drops of essential oil a day, on a neutral medium or mixed with a food, according to the recommended doses, in a balanced diet. Not recommended in pregnant or lactating women and children under 3 years of age. Do not apply to the skin in case of sun exposure.
