Description
It is in particular in Australia and New Caledonia that Niaouli is found, a tree of myrtaceae family. This species is also found in different areas where it has been cultivated, particularly in tropical regions whose climate is suitable for niaouli. It is exploited for its wood, for its flowers also which are used to produce honey, as well as for its leaves, which produce its essential oil. On its aesthetic side, it is also used as an ornamental plant, thanks to its exotic aspect, which pleases very much.
Most of the time, this tree is between 4 and 12 m long, although the larger plants sometimes reach the size of the tree 25 metres. It is rarely straight at trunk level, and takes a more tortuous look, which gives him this originality at the visual level. This tree also has whitish green leaves, with a brilliant shine. They have 5 parallel veins. The inflorescences are quite original in their appearance, resembling ears, and measuring up to 8 cm in length. They are white and have many filaments.
The essential oil of the niaouli is called the gomenol, and it is therefore extracted from the leaves of the tree. These were previously used, inter alia, to wash children and patients once infused.
Instructions for use: Take 2 to 3 drops a day on a neutral medium or mixed with a food, as part of a balanced diet and respecting the recommended doses. Do not administer to pregnant or lactating women and children under 3 years of age. Do not apply to the skin before exposure to the sun.
