Matrician

The matricariae is an annual plant of the Asteraceae family. It has branching, erect stems and thin, cut leaves. Between May and October, the matricary is dressed in beautiful white flowers outside and yellow inside. Grouped into solitary headsets, these flowers vaguely resemble those of Roman chamomile. However, the matricaria flowers are much smaller. The fruits of the plant are small yellowish achenes that disperse easily in the wind. Stems, leaves, and flowers of the matricaria give a characteristic smell when cut. This scent pleases useful insects and repels pests. The plant has its place in the gardens.
