Maize stigma
The stigma of corn used in phytotherapy are the stigma of female flowers of the annual herbaceous plant called corn or Zea Mays L. Also called hair or corn beard, these stigma come in the form of golden yellow filaments of a length ranging from 15at 20 cm.They have the advantage of containing many active ingredients including flavonoids, alkaloids, saponosides, mucilage and mineral salts.Belonging to the Fabaceae family, corn is a high and robust plant at the same time.It has large engaging leaves and separate sex flowers, but installed on the same foot.The male flowers are located at the top of the stems of the plant, while the females gather in the armpit of the leaves.Originally from tropical America, corn is today widely cultivated worldwide as a cereal, but also as a fodder plant.
