Botanique

A perennial plant of the Rubiaceae family, the garance can reach a height of 1.5 metres. It has climbing stems and verticulated leaves. Its roots, rich in alizarin, are used for dyeing. It grows in well drained limestone soils, mainly in Europe and Asia.
