Northern Mauve
The northern mauve is a rustic plant growing in the wild on the edges of roads, in hedges and rubble. Cultivated for its beauty, the northern mauve is characterized by an erect stem dressed in rounded dark green deciduous leaves. From late spring to early autumn, the northern mauve shows purple pink flowers with purple streaks. In the form of heart, its very characteristic flowers become blue as they fade. The northern mauve is about 90 cm tall and produces small, rounded fruits commonly known as cheeses. It is by the name of atypical fruits that the plant has its nickname of cheese herbe.
