Compléments / Histoire

White pepper is native to the same plant as black pepper, pepper (Piper nigrum), which grows mainly in tropical regions of South Asia, including India, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Indonesia. The difference between white and black pepper lies in the berry processing process.

The immature green pepper berries are harvested and then subjected to a specific treatment to produce white pepper. This process usually involves soaking berries into water for a specified period of time. During this soaking, the outer pulp of ripe berries is removed, leaving behind it the white core inside. These nuclei are then dried to obtain the final white pepper.

Whole White Pepper is delicate, it is less intense than Black Pepper. An ideal alternative for cooks looking for a softer flavor.

The versatility of ground white pepper makes it an ideal companion for a variety of dishes. Delicate sauces with scented soups, fish dishes with sweet creations as dessert, white pepper brings a touch of elegance and subtlety to every kitchen.
