Oregano
The oregano or wild marjoram is a perennial sub-arb of the Lamiaceae family, which originates in Western Asia and Europe. Present throughout France, this deciduous-leaved shrub grows in tufts on a height ranging from 30 to 80 cm. From July to September, the top of the branches hosts many white or pale pink flowers. Oregano grows wild on slopes and forest edges. Delicately scented, it is now widely cultivated for its condimentary qualities. Very used in Italian cuisine, fresh or dried oregano perfumes tomato sauces and traditional pizzas. It also enhances salads, stuffings and charcuterie. It is readily used to flavour grilled meat.
