Marjoram
Marjoram is a perennial plant of the Lamiaceae family from southwestern Asia. It is characterized by long stems of 60 cm and small oval velvety leaves of about 4 cm. The flowers of the plant are tiny, pink or white, with slightly darker bracts. Present throughout the Mediterranean basin, wild marjoram is widespread on roadsides, limestone wasteland and slope. In the garden, it is sown every year as an annual on light, dry, fertile and well drained soil. Marjolaine is widely used in Mediterranean cuisine. Also called garden oregano, it brings a peppery note to the dishes. To obtain this delicate touch, leaves picked before flowering are usually used.
