Muscade nuts

The nutmeg is the nucleus of the fruit of the nutmeg. It is a tropical tree from the Myristicaceae family. Originally from Indonesia, this tree can reach a dozen or twenty metres high. It is characterized by persistent elongated leaves and small odorous whitish to pale yellow flowers. Muscadier provides two spices. On the one hand, there is the bark of the nut that is distinguished by a fine and delicate flavor, slightly bitter, and on the other hand, the nutmeg. Ideal for lightening smooth recipes, grated nutmeg is part of many comforting dishes, including Dauphinian gratin. It is also used in meat dishes, soups and purées.
