Green tea

Green tea is a tea prepared from dried tea leaf, a shrub of the family Teaaceae. Known as Camellia sinensis L., the tea tree is native to Southeast Asia. But it is now growing in humid tropical regions subjected to a regular rainfall regime. It can reach up to 30 metres, but in cultivation, its height is generally maintained at about 1.5 metres. The tea tree is available in several varieties and has dark green, glossy or matt leaves, measuring between 3 and 20 cm. It gives fragrant white flowers. Tea leaves are picked, dried and fermented to a certain degree to release their aroma.
