Zedoar
The zedoar or Curcuma zedoaria is a rhizomatous aromatic perennial plant in the Zingiberaceae family. It is native to India and China, but is now cultivated in some botanical gardens around the world. The zedoar averages between 30 cm and 60 cm and has a fleshy, whitish rhizome. Cut and dried, its rhizome can be used in cooking and herbal therapy. Alternatively, zedoar leaves are erect and lanceolate. They are green above and purple below. Its flowers are purple white. They are very large and appear by 4 or 6. The zedoar gives a fruit in the shape of a globose capsule.
